Dogs, humans ready to 'Strut' for Hand in Paw

BIRMINGHAM -- The Eighth Annual Mutt Strut, presented by Veterinary Eye Care in memory of Christopher Nelms is set for Saturday, April 15 on the UAB Campus Green, 1505 10th Ave. South. Registration will be held from 7 until 8:30 a.m. The 5K starts at 9 a.m., and the one-mile Fun Run/Walk starts at 9:30 a.m.

The event is a fundraiser for Hand In Paw Animal-Assisted Therapy.
It isn’t too late to register, and it isn’t too late to put together a team (a team is two or more individuals). Registration fees are as follows:
• 5k with dog: $30
• 5k without dog: $25
• 1 Mile with dog: $25
• 1 Mile without dog: $20
• Sleep In: $15 (You can donate and get all the race perks without working up a sweat.)

Prize categories include:
• Top Fundraising Individual
• Top Fundraising Team
• Fastest Dog (5K)
• Slowest Dog (Overall)
• Fastest Human (male and female)
• Best Human Costume
• Best Human/Dog Duo Costume
• Best Race Team Spirit

This year’s after-the-Strut celebration is set for Good People Brewing Company, 114 14th St. South.
